Many students have become interested in participating in international volunteer experiences. Although a list of international programs is available, CVU does not endorse or recommend any particular program. Students and their parents should conduct their own research about a program's integrity, safety, and values.
Students and Parents should consider:
- Is the student mature enough to travel? Will he or she become homesick during the trip?
- Does the student understand the specifics of what the volunteer position will entail (little water, rustic setting, no access to internet/cell phone etc.)?
- Are the parents truly okay with their student being gone? Parents get lonely too!
Here is a list of some international volunteering opportunities that students can participate in over summer break. There are many, many more, and if you end up choosing an organization that is not on this list, make sure it is creditable and has good reviews...you want your student traveler to be in good hands.
