Local businesses, charities, organizations, clubs or schools
- VSAC & their scholarship booklet (available in Student Services) DUE Feb. 2025
- Check with your (or parents) employer, bank, American Legion, etc.
- If you are a member of NTHS, SkillsUSA, alternative SkillsUSA, or FFA you are eligible to apply for additional scholarships through them.
- The college or university you are planning on attending - some you may have to apply for, others you may automatically qualify for based on your application materials (GPA, SATs, etc). They typically let you know if you are a recipient in your acceptance letter.
- Online there are thousands of scholarships available but, unlike local scholarships, you will be competing for the $$ against many more people. Here are a couple of websites to check out:
- Most scholarships require an application, an essay, a letter of recommendation, or transcript and sometimes, additional materials. They will all specify what it is they are looking for. It may seem like a lot of work now but it will save you a lot of $$ in the future. Totally worth it!
- One time (lump sum) scholarships are great but it’s worth your time to apply for scholarships that are renewable from year to year. Most require that you maintain a certain GPA throughout your college experience in order to keep your scholarship - a little incentive to keep your grades up!
